Through several centuries the role of business has expanded into
not just being limited to one planet (like for example Earth in the 20th
Century) but has now been able to expand their businesses to trade with
other colonies and other races. This has meant that the many corporations
have been able to flourish and expand still further into Mega-Corporations
which span many planets and providing the likes of ships, weapons, new
technologies and research into organic technologies. While this would be seen
to advancing the cause of much good, intense rivalry between these large
companies had led to the Earth Corporate Wars that started in late 2239 and
lasted for 5 years. This war has left many of these companies involved badly
damaged and are only now slowly starting to rebuild themselves to the size they
were before while those that won have nearly a strangehold on nearly every
market.
